Bringing Hope at Easter Time! - Trócaire Fundraising Draw - ‘Together For A Just World’

22nd Apr 2026

Our children and staff wish to convey many thanks and much appreciation to everyone who supported our recent Easter Draw in aid of Trócaire. The Draw was held in school on Tuesday morning of Holy Week - 30th March. In these days and weeks and as we continue to journey through this beautiful Easter season and its fifty days from the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday, may we embrace renewal and be encouraged to live an extended feast of mercy, hope, and Resurrection joy.

Many thanks to all parents and grandparents, families, students, staff, and the wider community, who demonstrated much kindness in the donation/sponsorship of Easter eggs and other associated Easter-themed gifts, and the purchasing of Draw lines.

We are delighted that our combined efforts and compassion ensured that our Draw raised £1,431.52 and €50.00. All prizes in the Draw were kindly donated, thus meaning that every single penny raised will go directly to help in Trócaire’s vital work. Thank you to everybody concerned.

We very much look forward to Trócaire’s lovely Fermanagh-based representative - Mrs Bridie Duffy - visit St Mary’s in the coming weeks to speak further with our children about Trócaire’s great work across the world, and accept the proceeds of our Draw.

In these days, too, as we mark the first anniversary of dear late Pope Francis’ death, we recall the words of Trócaire from one year ago: …’Pope Francis recognised the innate dignity of each person and called out injustices against the most vulnerable people in our world. His was a voice of hope and justice’… May he rest in peace. And may we continue to support Pope Leo as he aligns his ministry with Trócaire’s mission, emphasising climate justice, supporting marginalised communities, and encouraging global, sustainable aid.

We trust everybody enjoyed sharing in the Easter eggs and other delights won in the Draw! Hopefully, our photographs and video will bring a little smile! A most sincere word of thanks to our fantastic Cian Lee in Primary Seven for your video compilation, and to lovely Mrs McLoughlin and Mrs Prunty for your wonderful assistance with the photographs. Thank you.
