On a crisp and cold December morning, children from the junior and senior classes in Fairgreen National School, joined children from Primaries 1 to 5, to kick off this year’s Shared Education Programme.
The annual Santa Dash, organised via the Daily Mile Initiative, was the perfect opportunity to join together to celebrate the excitement of Christmas and accompanying festivities and celebrations.
Christmas songs, old and new, poured across the playground, as children embraced the cold air and chatted about the season of advent. They also discussed about how each school hosted a Carol service, in the week prior, in their respective parishes and the excitement of Santa arriving on his sleigh into Ireland, with a sleigh packed full of gifts for the girls and boys.
Once our dash was completed, children were treated to drinks and snacks before arriving back to warmth of the classroom to complete some Christmas arts and crafts. Pupils enjoyed some free play together, before finished off with an impromptu round of Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is coming to town!
