Shared Education through creativity and teamwork
Over the last number of weeks, the children in Primaries one to five, have been enjoying a series of workshops and activities in relation to our ‘Peacepals’ ethos, for this year’s programme.
We explored symbols of peace and their origin, along with art activities to recreate our own versions. Lorraine McCorry from Relax Kids, led us in peaceful moments, exploring how to find peace within us, when perhaps things are not going as planned. Thank you, Lorraine, for your lovely sessions with our children. Many thanks to Teemore Shamrocks, in particular to Declan and Barry, who led us in coaching sessions, helping us to work together and utilise our communication skills.
Gratitude must also be expressed to Mary Drumm from Derrylin/Teemore crochet club, who visited our junior children in Fairgreen, to help them make friendship bracelets. Mary’s expertise and guidance, was very much appreciated, in assisting our youngest pupils whilst developing their fine motor skills. Alongside Mary, we had Nuala O’Toole leading storytelling, delighting the youngsters with her infectious and fun-loving nature.
As the weeks continue, we turn our attention to STEM activities, with the younger children receiving visits from Core Kids and our older children participating in engineering challenges, also co-ordinated by Core Kids and teaching staff. Team building is key, along with problem solving and working together for a common goal.
We look forward to our upcoming events and activities and sharing further celebrations with you!
