Shared Education Trip to Enniskillen Castle
Our children in our Junior classes (Primaries 1 to 3) and Senior classes (Primaries 4 and 5) travelled to Enniskillen last week, along with Fairgreen National School to explore the history of Ireland’s only island town and Enniskillen Castle.
We express a deep gratitude to the expertise and knowledge provided by Catherine Scott and her colleague, Julian who took the children through the history of the castle into its present day use. Our senior children completed a guided tour of Enniskillen, along with a visit to the Headhunter’s Railway Museum where they were treated to a special private tour by local historian, Nigel Johnston. Afterwards, it was a quick drop in to visit St Michael’s Church and St Macartan’s Church, to examine symbols and artefacts of war and peace.
The main aims of the programme this year, are to explore cultures, traditions and the concept of peace and reconciliation. We aim to deliver this over the next few months, through art, storytelling, team-building activities and STEM projects, to help establish further communication and problem solving skills, essential for developing and maintaining peaceful relationships!
Stay posted, for further Shared Education fun and learning, in our community in the coming weeks.
