St Ninnidh's Soccer and Netball Blitz
On Thursday 30th April, Primary 7 pupils and the Primary 6 girls enjoyed a superb day of sport as they made the short journey to St Ninnidh’s Derrylin, to take part in their inaugural Soccer and Netball Blitz. Schools from the local area came together for this event, including St Ninnidh’s Derrylin, St Mary’s Killesher and St Náile’s Kinawley, creating a wonderful atmosphere of friendly competition and teamwork.
With glorious sunshine setting the scene, excitement and enthusiasm were high as the matches got underway. Games were played over two rounds, with each fast?paced match lasting six minutes, keeping both players and supporters fully engaged throughout the day.
Our pupils were outstanding. The Primary 6 netball team delivered an excellent performance, winning two out of three games in both rounds, showing great skill, determination and teamwork. The Primary 7 boys were equally impressive on the soccer pitch, winning all of their matches with confidence and excellent sportsmanship.
The celebrations continued at the prize?giving ceremony, where Mr Kerins, Principal of St Ninnidh’s Derrylin, alongside Mrs Hannigan, Primary 7 teacher, proudly announced Teemore as the overall winners. This news was greeted with tremendous cheers and excitement from our pupils. Team captains Sheana Murray and Conor Curry, proudly accepted the trophies on behalf of their teams, while all participants were rewarded with medals and refreshments.
A huge congratulations to all pupils involved for representing our school so positively. It was a fantastic day, full of effort, enjoyment and achievement—one to be remembered with pride! We express a huge thanks to the staff in St Ninnidh's Derrylin, for their all their efforts in organising the tournament. Hopefully, it can be replicated again, next year.
