‘Street Smart, Road Safe’ - Primary Schools’ Road Safety Quiz 2026
Our school community extends congratulations and best wishes to a group of our Primary Seven students who represented St Mary’s so very well in recent weeks in the Primary Schools’ Road Safety Quiz 2026.
Very well done to our team of Aaron, Cian, Daire Marie and Darragh, and to Laura, Conor, Siofra and Méabh who very ably assisted and supported our four team members on the day of the quiz and in the days and weeks of preparation, beforehand. You should all be most proud of your knowledge base across road safety and general knowledge.
Having travelled to The Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen, our team performed so very admirably across seven question rounds, plus a road signs round. Our young people demonstrated a most pleasing knowledge and awareness of many vital components of road safety including: The Green Cross Code, pedestrian crossings, cycle safety and in-car safety, along with displaying an impressive insight into the meaning of various road signs and road markings. The quiz proved most enjoyable for our students, ensuring that important road safety awareness was delivered in a fun and interactive setting.
The learning and experiences accrued on the day itself and in the weeks of preparation prior to the quiz, have provided the students with the knowledge and tools needed to play their part in road safety. In addition, it has equipped them with the skills needed to help them become teachers for their families, friends, classmates and community, so that everyone can be safer on the road. Indeed, it might just save a life one day...
‘To the world you may be one person;
but to one person you may be the world.’ (Dr Seuss)
Thank you to our eight wonderful young people for your motivation, interest, enthusiasm, knowledge and skills, and to your parents for their ongoing support, as ever, and invaluable assistance with transport to and from Enniskillen on the day of the quiz. We also convey a word of sincere appreciation to the staff of the Road Safe Charity who hosted and facilitated this important event in the primary school calendar.
