‘We are Prophets of a Future Not our Own’... Congratulations to Our Class of 2025
‘This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realising that.
This enables us to do something, and to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders, ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.’ (Saint Oscar Romero)
The final days of June saw our school community come together to pay tribute to our twenty-two wonderful young people in Primary Seven, as they departed St Mary’s and completed the journey of their primary education.
It was with much pride, hope, thanksgiving, gratitude, sadness, joy, and bonds of family, friendship and faith, that we celebrated our End-of-Year Mass of Thanksgiving, and thank Fr Alwill for leading us in this most fitting of celebrations, as our Primary Seven students. We convey a sincere word of gratitude to the entire staff and children of our school, and to parents, grandparents, families, former staff and students, members of our school’s Board of Governors and members of our wider community, who joined us on the day, both in the church and school, and via the webcam.
To our Class of 2025, may you know fun, friendship, new horizons and opportunities, peace of mind and heart, and a whole new world, ahead. May you keep searching and building and growing; searching for the truth, trying to build a better world, whilst continuing to be young people of hope, compassion and prayer. May you embrace the past with its sad and happy memories and the future with hopeful longing, confident in the knowledge that you are greatly loved. And may the Holy Spirit continue to guide, inspire and protect you, always...
